When we heard about the Heineken Roeivierkamp, otherwise known simply as 'The Heineken', we thought it rude not to attend such an enticing regatta!
This yearly event races over four distances on Amsterdam's Amstel river (Amstel, again, what's not to love), and last weekend saw the 47th edition take place.
The unique course features races over four distances: 250 metres, 750 metres, 2500 metres and 5000 metres. Overall ranking is then calculated by converting all times to 250 metre times, i.e. the 750 metre time is divided by three etc.
Open to eights and quadruple sculls across a full range of divisions, this international FISA regatta is proudly sponsored by the Heineken Brewery and attracts hundreds of crews and thousands of spectators.
So, last Thursday we hit the road and headed to the land of tulips to set-up shop with our road show team and, obviously, we had to sample a 'biertje' or two! A great event and one we'll be attending again.
Closer to home we'll have the doors open at Crewroom HQ for the upcoming Head races so don't forget to pop in and check our new spring range.
